Proficiency in People-Centric Settings

I am delighted that I have experienced and served a variety of cross-cultural backgrounds working as a front desk agent at a luxury Resort whilst receiving a degree in a group-project-based Hospitality Program. Not only have I learned more about diversity and inclusion, but I have also begun practices within my own life to ensure those around me feel supported in their beliefs. While at L'Auberge Del Mar, a small beachfront property, I worked with colleagues and visitors from various cultural backgrounds, including different races, political beliefs, gender identities, and faiths.

Memorable and career-educating events were inspired by the variety of guests I assisted in the check-in and room reservation process. Working front-of-house operations, I engaged and honored a diverse group of people with their requests and desires. Representing a 121-room boutique seaside resort, I faced many challenges, including understaffing, lack of management system integration, and limited amenities. Summer was the busiest time of year, and the visitors had asked for specific accommodations to allow them to observe their religious traditions quietly. As someone who values diversity and empathy, I ensured the guest's needs were satisfied by working closely with them to provide transportation to religious monuments, food accommodations, and other personal room requests.

I collaborated with reservations & guest services management to ensure that their rooms were set up according to their religious specifications and had access to the tools, mats, and transportation required to carry out their religious activities. I also ensured they felt welcome and at ease during their stay at the hotel by checking in on them via ALICE, a guest & rooms coordinating communication software.

These experiences over the past four years have taught me the value of open communication, teamwork, and empathy when dealing with people from various backgrounds. These abilities will be useful in any workplace, and I am enthusiastic about applying them in a new career.

I'm writing to recognize the hard work of two classmates, Sally Hana, and Abby Fine, and propose their portfolios.

I've had the opportunity to collaborate with Sally and Abby on various leadership projects this semester as well as working collaborative schedules at L'Auberge Del Mar. They've both displayed great work ethics and passion for their profession, frequently putting in long hours and going above and beyond to ensure everything was finished to the best of their ability.
