A Bit About Me

Surviving Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) has been and will always be my driving force to achieving the ultimate "bedside manners" or hospitality leadership skills. As a result of my personal experience as a patient, I amount my positive interactions with doctors and nurses to be the driving factor in my desire for excellent customer service. I was fortunate enough to receive treatment from some genuinely outstanding physicians and nurses who went above and beyond to assure my comfort and well-being when I resided in the Rady's Children's Hospital of San Diego.

My response to customer service has been greatly influenced by the compassion and consideration I experienced during that trying period. Regardless of one's circumstances or upbringing, I think everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, empathy, and respect.

My time spent in the hospital has given me a profound appreciation for the value of hearing and comprehending others. Therefore, I look forward to continuing serving the community of family, friends, and guests that I interact with on a daily basis.

Why Hospitality?

My optimism and belief in the power of positive experiences to impact people's lives are at the heart of my decision to pursue a career in hospitality. I have always been drawn to the hospitality industry because it provides a unique opportunity to create meaningful and memorable experiences for others.

Aside from my natural spirit of optimism, I have great leadership qualities that will serve me well in this business. I am a natural collaborator and communicator, and I feel that my ability to bring people together and develop great connections would be crucial in a hospitality leadership job. For Example, my final report on Recreational Tourism Management lacked an effective leader, therefore, I rose to the role by creating a presentation and document template that clearly outlines each team member's role and expected contribution. Allocating each peer a position allows for accountability and support throughout the remainder of the project creating a more cohesive and productive team.

Whether providing exceptional service or ensuring that every person feels welcome and valued, I believe that hospitality can positively impact the lives of individuals and communities alike. I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of this industry and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Why Event Management?

I'm drawn to event planning because I thrive in hectic, attention-grabbing, and exciting surroundings. I appreciate the challenge of problem-solving and improvising on the go, both of which are necessary talents in my area.

The events sector also provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work on initiatives that have a direct influence on people's experiences and memories. In my courses at SDSU, I got to experience the fundamental supply chain management of creating a unique and meaningful event. Inspired by the Trevor Project, I engaged in the execution planning of a Pride Charity Farmer's Market analysis including the planning, hiring, execution, suppliers, stakeholders, and Evaluation of the event. My degree including an emphasis in event planning has given me the creative freedom to provide participants and spectators with an immersive experience, whether it is a business conference, music festival, wedding, wine dinner, or farmer's market.

Overall, event management is a vibrant and fast-paced sector that complements my skills and interests.

Adapting to the industry...

As a full-time front desk agent at L'Auberge Del Mar, I've had the opportunity to observe and adapt to the industry's developments over the last year.

The events sector has encountered tremendous hurdles due to the epidemic but has also provided new chances for creativity and adaptability. Remaining motivated to complete coursework deadlines I used my adaptability to acclimate to the new online oasis of virtual interactions. As a front desk agent, I've seen how our hotel has shifted to meet our customers' demands during this period, with better cleaning processes, contactless or pre-check-in alternatives, and other virtual efforts to assure our guests' safety and comfort.

During my career as a front desk agent, I've noticed that the events sector has responded to the epidemic with virtual events & meetings, hybrid events, and other innovative strategies to continue bringing people together.

My experience as a front desk agent has given me a unique perspective in the events industry during the challenging time of COVID-19. Therefore, I am confident in my abilities to adapt and thrive in this endlessly changing environment.

Demonstrating my passion...

My schooling, internships, and mentorships have adequately equipped me for a career in this field, and I am excited to put my abilities and expertise to use in a new position.

During college, I worked on various event management initiatives, including planning a charity event for a local non-profit organization and directing a student-organization talent show for S.C.R.E.A.M. The experience of leading the event planning for the student org, Students Creating Rides Entertainment Attractions & Memories, allocated me vital leadership skills such as budgeting, marketing, and project management, as well as a strong eye for detail and a dedication to perfection.

In addition to my student assignments, I have interned at luxury resorts and restaurants, where I received firsthand expertise in event planning and implementation. At L'Auberge Del Mar, for example, I aided with the planning and execution of weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions, working directly with customers to ensure their vision was realized. I also assisted the resort's culinary staff in designing special meals and wine pairings while managing the setup and breakdown of event premises.

Finally, I've had the honor of receiving mentorship from several business luminaries, including renowned event designer and planner Endera Navarro. Thanks to these mentorships, I have learned much about business and other topics.
